In early 2024 I started a project that combined two of my favourite creative tools – illustration and Lego!
The ‘minifigured’ series is all about finding people who are in current news, making a difference or simply valued by me, and turning them into a Lego Minifigure.
Sounds simple, but making a Minifigure that truly represents someone famous (and is a decent likeness) takes quite a bit of thought, planning and trial and error.
My first attempt was a version of myself called ‘chronic mum’. She wears a lot of black, walks around with a stick and her vape is always to hand. She has kids crap in her hair and medication all over the place. She’s crying, because life is a bit shit right now.
After making myself I tried others including Claudia Winkleman (the fringe helped here), Trump, Barbie and chandler from Friends.
For the first time I also release full videos of me creating each character in Procreate on TikTok. if you fancy seeing how I do this then my username is @StephDraws401.
