Coconuts for the summer

Continuing my theme of fruit, my partner suggested I try something a bit different, so I tried this coconut image.

I really struggled with the water, which is something I’m going to have to work on. However, the coconut itself, the shell and hair, I was really pleased with. It took a while to get the texture of the outside of the coconut right, but once I’d matched the colours it quickly started to come together.

It’s clear that there’s water coming from the coconut, but I think that the water needs to be really detailed and I just couldn’t get it right.

So, for my next piece I’m going to try more fruit, but this time with a splash to give me that practice I need.

I’m also working on an out of focus pond that’s starting to come together nicely. It’s a totally new style for me, but the colours and textures really look nice and different!
