Haiku Hope Part 8 – School

I’m not sure if my daughter returning to school this week is welcome or unwelcome news.

There’s no question I’ll miss her. The constant laughing, questions about random stuff (she’s next to me asking about marshmallows right now at 8.30 am on Sunday!) and requests to play and craft together – she’s kept my brain busy for 6 weeks.

But, at the same time, managing my own pain (both mentally and physically) has been much harder, and coupled with the hot weather and constant barrage of bad news, it’s been a crap summer for everyone.

So I thought I’d write a new Haiku Hope about my feelings towards her return to school. Difficult to do in the 5, 7, 5 formation, but hopefully I did ok.

School

Where’s my packed lunch box?
She shouts as loud as she can.
I hear her from school.

**********

So, as with all kids, she will be shouting and hollering from a different location soon and I’ll still hear it through the window all this distance away.

Good luck to all the kids about the start their 2022/23 education. As my parents told me, these are the best years of your life. Enjoy them and grab every opportunity to have fun with both hands.

Thanks for reading!
