Weird Words Part 11 – Crumping

Welcome, friends, to another festive edition of Weird Words.

The season seems to have officially started now and, in the name of saving energy while remaining jolly, I’m not ashamed to admit our home is now twinkling with led lights powered my many AA’s and AAA’s. I’m growing increasingly concerned that the money we’ve saved on electricity is going to be frittered away on bulk purchases of batteries instead.

Oh well. It’s Christmas, ain’t it? And thankfully most things are rechargable, so I just plug them in and use some electricity to charger them up again, so I’m saving….oh, hang on….shit.

Anyway. today I have another snow related word for you to enjoy. I thought the likelihood of find use for words about the white stuff was low, but it turns out the weather might just turn festive anyway! Here’s hoping. Something that costs nothing but raises huge cheer in children has to be a good thing.

I hope you enjoy todays weird word.

Crumping

Merriam Webster describes Crumping as…

A crunch or a crunching sound

The Urban Dictionary describes Crumping as…

Walking over freshly fallen snow; so called because of the ‘crump’ noise that your footsteps make as you walk. Note: This is totally different to Trumping which is stamping over everything while talking loudly of things you know nothing about.

So, although I won’t be out in the snow this year, I’ll look forward to our daughter telling me about her time outside crumping.

Thanks for reading 💜
