Hi everyone! Thank you for coming back (or for visiting the first time) to read another haiku.
I’ve been on a haiku writing frenzy recently, with ideas popping up all over the place, and this is one of a couple that made the final cut.
As I mentioned in my poem called The Gauntlet, this time of year is pretty heavy for me, so I wanted to try and add some fun to soften the edges of my mental illness and low mood.
Christmas is the perfect antidote, but I totally accept this is too early for most people. I drop in Christmas slowly so that my partner, who agrees with most of you, doesn’t feel overwhelmed by the season too soon.
Still, feeling a bit oif festive joy by watching a rubbish Hallmark Christmas movie really does help me, so where’s the harm?
Here is my haiku, dedicated to the internal battle I have at this time of year.

Too soon?
Look, it’s just too soon.
But gingerbread smells so good…
Ok, just one wreath.

Just a bit of silliness. If you want to have a go at a haiku yourself then remember that the only rule is to keep the 5, 7, 5, syllable convention for each line (although other strategies are out there if you want to investigate them!).
I’d love to see some other haikus, so send yours in if you’d like me to publish them!
Thanks for coming back and have a joy-filled day! 💜🎄🎄
