My third eye šŸ‘!

I’ve gone from having no creative ideas at all to being overrun by them. As a result my iPad is currently bursting with pictures I’ve started but not finished. In desperation I picked my favourite and forced myself to finish it today.

This project was something I wanted to go back to and approach differently.

This is my third finished eye drawing. I managed to make it look pretty pop art-ish, with a Halloween twist in the middle of the eye.

Deliberately keeping all the other detail of the eye in grayscale makes the purple and orange in the eyeball really stick out.

However, this drawing was supposed to be realistic. I’m still struggling with drawing anatomy, but I love the detail needed to create a decent looking eyeball, which is why I wanted to try again.

After several days of erasing, blending, adding layers and adding details, today I finally lost belief in my ability, so this is the result.

I’d really love to be able to draw realistic anatomy, but I’m genuinely starting to wonder if it’s something I will ever be able to do. Maybe we all have a finite amount of creativity available and as a result, some of us can only draw or write or draft specific things. I don’t know, but every time I try this I wind up being disappointed.

I’m working on so many other things I can’t list them all. The next drawing I’ll finish will probably be a watercolour style. It’s something I’ve been wanting to try for a while.

Anyway, I hope you don’t hate this latest picture as much as I do!

Have a great Sunday! 😊

  1. I like it. From someone that can’t draw I don’t have your critics view. I like our the light makes everything have a shiny surface and the detail of the eyelashes. I have a project on the back burner cuz I can’t illustrate a children’s book about a mischievous pony named Smokey. But I write personal stories about living with mental illness and so that maybe is one of my creatives. I am amazed by your style and appreciation your art.
