Haiku hope 37 – Old at 42

Hi everyone and welcome to my 37th Haiku Hope – part of the COPE campaign bundle of creative distractions.

This time I wanted to write about something that’s really bugging me – the yawning chasm between my real age (42 – which already feels older than I imagined) and the age my body looks and feels (about 80 – which is funny and scary all at once).

My health is a constant conversation in this house, with regular changes in pain locations and an impact on my cognition that’s impossible to miss. About 2 years ago I started forgetting words mid-conversation, and I lost several years of memories as a chunk too. It was frightening, and it continues to get worse…thankfully it’s slow.

This week my pain took a whole new detour and is in the process of making me feel older than ever – my hope is AGONISING! And even worse, I look like I need a zimmer frame when I walk.

This haiku is a snapshot of how I’ve been feeling, and let’s out a bit of the frustration im holding on to.

Enjoy…(please!)…

Happy Birthday babe!

This year has promise. Okay?

No, my hip’s hurting.

Remember if you need some distractions from stress then there are more jokes on my Hold Humour page, as well as haikus on Haiku Hope, awful poems on Crap Poems and odd language in Weird Words. I also have a page dedicated to stress hacks and other ideas to try if you need a distraction within the COPE campaign section of this website.

Thanks for visiting.
