I’ve got to be honest, I find it really difficult to be creative when I’m struggling in my personal life. Anytime that I have a difficult day or something is upsetting me I find that my creativity doesn’t leave, but it becomes quite dark. This last weekend was a bit tough for our family, soContinue reading “Missing creativeness and feeling dark”

Cherry blossom or Sakura branches
Totally the wrong time of year, but I just love that spray of colour that blossom provides in the spring. The array of pinks from bright to softer pastels is beautiful. So I challenged myself to draw some cherry blossom using some pictures I found on the internet as a guide. It’s not perfect, butContinue reading “Cherry blossom or Sakura branches”
Children’s book drawings
I seem to have a thousand things on my list of creativity at the moment. But one of the things I really wanted to try was a Kawaii moth. I love the colours available to me when drawing in a Kawaii style, but I’m new to the genre so I still have a lot toContinue reading “Children’s book drawings”
Cloud drawings
I like to challenge myself regularly to draw something i like but that is in a totally different style than I’m used to. It doesn’t always work…I have a lot of unfinished ideas that I just couldn’t get the hang of. So this time I wanted to try and draw a sky illustration with lotsContinue reading “Cloud drawings”
Flash fiction and short stories
Last week I started my foray into the world of fiction writing competitions. I’ve been writing for some time now as more of a hobby, but I’d never entertained the idea of entering competitions until now. I’ve entered a few with various genres including dark thoughts, using the word ‘revealed’ and romance. It’s been aContinue reading “Flash fiction and short stories”
Cala lily drawing
I’m still having trouble shaking my addiction to flowers with water droplets. I love that the droplets require different colour depending on their location and the lighting amongst other things. Cala lillies are one of my favourite flowers and I always feel happy when I see them. I wanted a contract background so I wentContinue reading “Cala lily drawing”
Drawing characters
I’ve been avoiding it for so long, but I’ve finally bitten the bullet and decided to start developing my character illustration skills. I’ve tried for some time to get the hang of drawing people and characters but so far I’ve not been great. However….I’ve spent some time studying and practicing and I’m finally happy enoughContinue reading “Drawing characters”
Flower drawings
I don’t know why I’m so drawn to them, but lately I have been drawing a lot of flowers. I especially love them with droplets as I think it gives the flowers more realism and something interesting than just another boring tulip. Today I completed this work and it’s probably my best one to date.Continue reading “Flower drawings”
Window images
Lately I’ve had a hankering to draw more perspective pictures. I’m not sure if that’s the right word, but here’s what I’ve drawn. I really love the idea of creating an image as it looks through a window. They’re not my best drawings, but I like the idea and will keep working on it toContinue reading “Window images”
Page illustrations
Today I’ve continued my work towards the pages of a children’s book about adventures in a forest. I’ve done a few drawings over text including mushrooms, trees and woods and they seem to work best when I add some opacity to the drawings so the letters show through clearly. That was a bit of aContinue reading “Page illustrations”
