Hold Humour

Welcome to another page dedicated to showing you my personal COPE Campaign strategies.

Along with my Crap Poems, Weird Words and Haiku Hope, i’ll also be supplying you with a regular feed of Hold Humour for a couple of reasons;

  1. To show that creativity comes from all sorts of places
  2. To prove that the ideas within the COPE Campaign can really help
  3. To make you smile (hopefully)

Last year the COPE Campaign really took off, and I started receiving messages from people who’d found my silliness and ideas helpful.

When I reviewed what I’ve done so far I felt there was room for more daft stuff, so I decided to publish a series of regular jokes (all pretty rubbish) all designed to make you smile in those tense moments, when you’re on hold (for example).

And just like all my other coping strategies, these don’t have to be used on yourself, you might find passing them on is helpful too. If you have a friend or loved one that you know is struggling, then some creative ideas might help them to manage while they wait for more robust long term support to start.

I spent a bit of time recently thinking about creative ventures I’ve touched on that are a little unusual (certainly for me) and would prove the theory.

There is lots more information and further ideas on the COPE Campaign page of this site, with a more detailed overview of how it all works and what you can do to get started. No, I’m not selling anything – this is an idea that works for me when I am anxious. I have multiple complex mental illnesses myself and my paranoia and panic take over at the drop of a hat. For years I had to just give in to it, letting an attack ruin my mind and body, sometimes for days afterwards.

Since using creativity to help me, I’ve found it much easier to manage increasing anxiety if I’ve distracted myself for a while. It doesn’t work every single time, but even if I try and fail I’ve removed myself from the situation for a short period of time. Even those couple of minutes can make a difference.

Below is the collection of my most recent Hold Humour posts, and every new joke will be added here automatically.

I hope you enjoy this collection of rubbish jokes!

Hold humour Part 15 – being grumpy

Hi everyone, welcome to the 15th edition of awful jokes as part of the Hold Humour distraction project in the COPE campaign. It’s been noted at home that I’ve been a bit…grumpy…lately. Now, I could blame it on a million things…lack of sleep is probably the favourite, but at the end of the day my…

Hold humour Part 14 – getting old

Hi everyone, welcome to the 14th edition of awful jokes as part of the Hold Humour distraction project in the COPE campaign. As many of you know, this month is significant for me for a few reasons. One, I am challenging myself to complete more than 50 Haikus in the Haiku Hope project before the…

Hold humour part 13

Hi everyone, welcome to the 13th edition of awful jokes as part of the Hold Humour distraction project in the COPE campaign. For this collection of 5 jokes, I’ve chosen a selection of random jokes about random subjects. It’s getting close to the end of February, and there’s nothing specific to write about…do I’ve kept…
